I went to the Miami office today to apply for a temporary work authorization card. This office no longer accepts walk ins as of two days ago. People can either make an appointment with the office on the web from home, or on site. The waiting time is approximately two weeks for an appointment. This is for any type of immmigration case.

I also called Texas and they are currently processing April applicants for OPT work authorization cards. They are very back logged and people can expect a delay. Also, most service offices will not process an temporary until the 91st day has lapsed.

As a final option, people can write to Texas asking to expidite the process (only after the standard 90 days have passed). With that letter, they should sent a copy of their notice of action, job offer letter, letter from employer stating the necessity of hiring the person on office letterhead.
EADs are being issued on the 91st day regardless of place of filing (TSC or District). It is requisite in Miami to get there early: some persons who have arrived after 7 am have been denied processing that day. This has been more of a problem since Special Registration began, but nonethless EADs generally are processed after the 90th day.
