S Visa—Witnesses Against Terrorist and Criminal Organizations

S Visas are for those individuals who provide critical, reliable information necessary to the successful investigation or prosecution of a criminal organization, and individuals who provide critical, reliable information concerning a terrorist organization and who qualify for a reward under the Department of State's rewards program.

T Visa--Victims of Trafficking and Violence

T Visas are for individuals who have been victimized in the most severe fashion, including women who are victims of crimes.  The visa enables the crime victim to remain in the U.S. temporarily (and in some cases longer) and receive federal and state assistance.  Law enforcement agencies work with the visa holders to pursue the prosecution and conviction of traffickers.

U Visa-Victims of Criminal Activity

U Visas are for victims of crimes who have suffered mental or physical abuse as a result and who are willing to assist law enforcement and government officials in the agencies to investigate and prosecute cases of domestic violence, sexual assault, trafficking of aliens and other crimes while, at the same time, offering protection to victims of such crimes investigation of the criminal activity.  The criminal activity must have occurred in the U.S. or violated the laws of the U.S.
