U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has a collection of helpful resources and free study materials to help educators who teach adult citizenship education classes. Visit the USCIS Citizenship Resource Center to help find materials that can help you build curriculum and supplement classroom study materials. You will find information for lawful permanent residents about the naturalization process, eligibility requirements and study materials to prepare for the naturalization interview and test.
Educators and volunteers play a critical role in helping immigrants prepare for U.S. citizenship and USCIS wants to support you in the important work that you do. USCIS has developed resources specific for you on the website, including lesson plans, and themed resources. In addition, USCIS conducts USCIS Adult Citizenship Education Training Institutes in communities around the country each year. These trainings are intended to help adult educators and program administrators gain the knowledge and skills needed to teach U.S. history and civics, English language skills, and the naturalization process to lawful permanent residents. Be sure to check out the Upcoming Teacher Trainings page for a list of free training opportunities in your area.
USCIS also offer resources for those who want to start a citizenship program.
Happy National Teacher Week and thank you for all you do for your communities!
